L�activiste et intellectuel Georgy Katsiaficas sera � Montr�al le 16 juin et dans ce cadre nous p�sentera une conf�rence sur le soul�vement global contre le n�olib�ralisme et le DVD The Eros Effect qui traite entre autres des diff�rents soul�vements r�cents en Asie de l�est.

The activist and intellectual Georgy Katsiaficas will be at Montreal June the 16th. I will present a conference about "A Global Uprising Against Neoliberalism" and the DVD The Eros Effect. This DVD specially talk about the recent East Asian uprising.

George Katsiaficas a �t� actif dans le mouvement de contestation depuis 1969. Cible du programme du FBI COINTELPRO, classifi� num�ro 1 � l�ADEX (Index administratif), il a v�cu � Ocean Beach en Californie dans une communaut� contreculturelle radicale qui luttait contre la guerre, contre la brutalit� polici�re, contre le viol et pour b�tir un r�seau d�organisations alternatives. Il a �crit une histoire globale de 1968, The Imagination of the New Left. Apr�s avoir v�cu � Berlin, il a �crit de premi�re main un compte rendu du mouvement autonome europ�en, The Subversion of Politics (r�cemment republi� par AK Press). Pour des ann�es, il a �t� actif dans la lutte pour les droits des Palestiniens. Avec Kathleen Cleaver, il a �dit� Liberation, Imagination and The Black Panther Party. Il vit actuellement � Gwandju, Cor�e du sud, o� il termine un livre sur les soul�vements en Asie de l�est.

George Katsiaficas has been active in the movement since 1969. A target of the FBI's COINTELPRO program classified Priority 1 ADEX, he lived in Ocean Beach, California in a radical countercultural community that fought against war, police brutality, and rape and built up a network of alternative institutions. He wrote a global history of 1968, The Imagination of the New Left. After living in Berlin, he wrote a first-hand account of the European autonomous movement, The Subversion of Politics (recently republsihed by AK Press). For years, he was active for Palestinian rights. Together with Kathleen Cleaver, he edited Liberation, Imagination and the Black Panther Party. He is currently living in Gwangju, South Korea, finishing a book on uprisings in East Asia in the 1980s and 1990s.
